The Forgotten Girl required multiple voices and accents. Since it’s a ghost story, Spencer used an ominous tone for the narrator. The characters speak in a variety of ways, from comically nasal to high-pitched and childlike.
Ian McInnes, audiobook producer at Learning Ally, said:
“I listened to The Forgotten Girl and was tremendously impressed. The narration style is both uniquely compelling and quite unusual. Spencer is among the most impressive and promising talents I’ve encountered in my decade + in the audiobook business.”
PTSD & Me concerns a veteran who struggles with civilian life after serving in the Iraq War. It was originally intended for the stage but aired on WPKN as a radio drama instead.
Jessie Fahay, Executive Director of Ripple Effect, praised Spencer’s work:
“From the beginning, Spencer showed professionalism, dedication and appreciation for the text. She takes direction quite well and has a voice that is captivating and melodic at the same time. There is also a strength to her voice that draws people in immediately. It was a joy to work with her.”
